I brought a $630 HD (hp-6850-mp) a bit over a year ago. loved the unit. top thing, remote, detatch face (motor) mp3 and a few other things.
any way i was very impressed with it. with the warm weather coming back, it seems to have had an adverse effect on the face. the 'multicontrol' no longer adjusts the volume (and has a few other intermittant probs) and occasionally it wont turn on, or when on will turn itself off. it also has problems with the motorised bit not extending properly to release the face. i really dont want to lie down on this one seeings it cost me that money. any one had any probs with the stuff? bad run-ins with service centres or anything? Cheers

Most motorised faces on all brand head units use flexible (ribbon) connectors to connect the main circuit board to the motorised panel, over time these wear out and fail. I'd say that is what is wrong with your head unit.
If it's only just out of warranty and you have proof of purchase date, they'll generally cover it under warranty |

Eventually, it will happen to all motorised front head units that use flexible connectors. It will even happen again after it's fixed, as it's just wear and tear of normal usage that breaks it. Like replacing spark plugs in your car, they eventually wear out and need to be replaced.
