how would you power it does it run off the car battery that easily

Probably a power inverter i would think....

Ideally would be to repace the power supply in the unit itself, a power inverter is only good for a short while if your car is not running. Plus it is quite inefficient. 12v -> 240v -> 12v = muchos power loss.

About 70% efficiency i believe happy. Falls well short of the 90% efficiency a DC-DC power supply will achieve.

Also the issue of the artificial AC current produced by an inverter, an artificial square wave.

on a related note, i have heard that the slim PS2 is not able to be "chipped". don't know how, don't know why, but this what i've heard...

this is true one of the main purposes for sony bringing out a newer PS2 was to make em harder to chip.
atm there isnt any chip for the slim ps2, but give it some time and der will be a solution

Most people put PS's in their car for passengers or if they do long trips..
Some like it coz its a bit of fun if your waiting around for someone, just turn it on and your entertained!
I know that every minute in my car isnt driving, even if im in the drivers seat, always waiting here n there for people!

Yeah but its still not worth the money to put in a ps2. Perhaps you could turn up not so early therefore not having to wait as long :)

as far as you are concerned. you might have noticed peoples value or concept of worth varies alot. for me playstation in the car is not worth the expenditure however $300 on a remote contro car was worth it to me. (its retail was $400.. hmm maybe i should have saved it instead.. lol

anyhow im sure other people will think somthing you spend money on is not worth the money.

lol yeah. Rather than getting criticised for spending on unnecessary things, i am criticised for being tight and not buying anything ever! :)
