I was just playing with the idea of whether i can power the PS2 in the car using a inverter from the cigarette lighter, was wondering whether a 150 watt continues power from supercrap will be able to do the job, or will i have to get a more powerful one?

Thanks

they make one which is for them. It goes from your ciggy lighter to the ps2. i think they are about $25 on the net.

150w might be too small, 300 is usually recomended. You will also need a pure sine wave one or you will get lines on teh screen. The jaycar website currently has 300 wat pure sign for $99, rrp $199

well, here are the results, in the ps2 manual it says the the ps2 requires 50 watt, so i decided to go with the 150 watt continuous, peak power 300watt, very happy with it, (even though the inverter only came with about 30cm of cable to work with)

pretty much the AV leads run from the HU out where the inverter is and under the seat

haha u kno whats funny. Ps2's convert ac to dc with their supply :D , inverters convert dc from a car to ac. now, why use an inverter and a converter when u can remove both and be using such little power its not funny? all you need to do is design voltage stepups and step downs to get the main input rails on ur ps2 :P

we ran a xbox in mates VT with a 150w inverter easy... apart from his battery being f**k and me having to jump start him after deciding to watch tv with the car off
