Sub box looks great. How's the sound compare to the typical front mount pointing to the back of the boot?
Also how did you attach the glass to the sub box, as it would have to be pretty strong to withold the pressures inside the box. Cheers |

Cheers Not sure how it sounds, i have a lot more work to do on the box before it is in and running. - Kamelion paint it - Seal glass in place - Connect and wire up 80odd LED's - Assemble a mirror pyramid for inside - Fix to the car and power up... Should sound good but i will let you know when it's going.. In answer to the glass it will be fixed in with Nolothane (stuff used to hold you windscreen in). Then a pannel goes over the top and locks it in place. SHould work well.

Hey,
mate how much is that sound deading stuff worth cos i am looking at putting some in. I had a brain wave about using rubber instead of that silver stuff but i am not sure. I think i will give it a try but in the end use that silver stuff. Just wondering howm much that silver stuff is worth and the black stuff used to stick it down with. Cheers |

Thanks, not sure how i'll get them both down, Lisa isn't interested in the car & just wishes i had left hers alone. Perhaps i should swap for someone with an unmodified gli and save the hasle and a heap of time & money. I have a couple of mates who are Ford nuts that can drive one of the cars down while i drive the other.
I should have some more good photos up in th next week. I have changed the entire front stage in my car and mounting and will have some more progress shots of this install. I will also do another tutorial on building custom fibreglass kickpannels including two good but completly different ways...

Ok update on the kickpanels, which are now finished.
These kickpannels use a fibreglass made ring as the grill frame covered in accoustically transparent speaker cloth. I wanted stealth in this car and show in mine so mine will be painted Kamelion PYROLY kickpanels PYROAY kickpannels Getting the angle correct Covering with fine cloth Mounting a ring that represents the outside size of the mid and tweeter to the pipe behind it to match the angle and ensure pull the cloth tight before coating it in a few layers of fibreglass resin Fibreglass the back with 3 layers of fibreglass matting to add strength then a thin layer of body filler over the front to smooth out the gaps, sand filler sand filler spray putty sand............. and so on and so forth

Let me finish getting mine painted and i'll do a set by step for people as a kickpannel build. There are a number more pics but i didn't want to post them all up.
I am thinking about building a friends EA falcon door pods to house a 3 way front stage and if i go that way i will do a heap of photos and a progress for people to follow. Should be a good one, nice SQ system on a budget

No the size of the waves at that frequency are quite large and they would need to be A lot further away to have that affect. Midbass drivers have about 6 foot waves so you should avoid mountnig them firing directly accross the car at each other.
