Hi, Firstly I have done a search and there is lots about going to ford with proof of ownership and vehicle VIN to get the code but what about when you have a a different radio. My original has a problem so picked up another one today but it didn't come with code. Will Ford still give me a code if I take the actual radio into them or have I wasted my time and money ?
Thanks |

I doubt it. The whole idea with a radio code is security Ford may assume you just nicked the radio out of a car and now need the code for it. However if you bought it from a trader and have a receipt then maybe they will accept that as proof of ownership, this is assuming they can retrieve the code from the radios serial number.
You could also try taking it back to were you bought it.

you could also try making up a receipt, saying like a private sale

Ford dealers can provide a radio code for a given VIN (security issues aside).
For a given radio, if you don't know the VIN of the original car it came in, no one can help you and you have waisted your money. So it's always best to check that a radio works, then disconnect and reconnect power and check that the supplied code will wake the radio BEFORE you part with your cash - saves time in the long run Cheers. |
