AU Falcon – Centre Finish Panel ( from ford forums website au falcon.com )
Removal 1. Remove radio and ash tray (see below) 2. Remove 4 screws securing Centre Finish Panel (CFP) to Instrument Panel (2 at the back of the ash tray recess and 2 on the side of radio opening). 3. Remove Glove Box. 4. Unlock plastic cable clamp securing temperature control cable inner wire to heater assembly temperature lever. (Fig. 1). 5. Pull temperature control inner wire out of the plastic cable clamp. 6. Remove temperature control cable sheath from the metal clip secured to the Instrument Panel. 7. Disconnect the 8 port vacuum connector underside of the recalculating duct. 8. Disengage the 2 metal clips on the vacuum harness used to secure the vacuum harness to the hinge strap of the instrument panel (i.e: between the heater assembly and the glove box hinge strap). 9. Gently prise the CFP away from the Instrument Panel, pulling the 5 metal spring clips away with the CFP. 10. Before completely removing the CFP, disconnect the electrical connection to the cigarette lighter and remove the ash tray bulb from the socket on the CFP. 11. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the back of the A/C controls. 12. Remove CFP, guiding the temperature control cable and vacuum harness up through the opening. Caution: The temperature control cable poses an eye hazard and can also scratch vehicle interior components Installation Reverse the above procedure, ensure no kinked vacuum lines, ensure 5 metal spring clips are positioned in the Centre Finish Panel and set the temperature control by positioning control the knob to full cold and the heater assembly temperature lever fully anti clockwise. Radio Removal Note: Ensure you have the radio PIN code handy before commencing this operation! Removal requires Special tool AU464 or a reasonable replica. Removal 1. Insert each 2 prong tool into bezel until they lock. 2. Move each tool outwards and pull the audio unit rearward. 3. Disconnect the antenna lead and connectors. 4. Remove the audio unit.
