Hey guys.
How do i remove the plastic surround around the deck in my EL XR8? It feels like its stuck around the cigarette lighter somewhere. I took out one screw that i found just to the left of that... Regards, Bassfreak. |

Thanks MRE-40L
Is it like a circlip sort of thing that wraps around something directly under the cigarette lighter? Cos ive found some sort of clip under there, and its a bugger to get that clip off! Does it sound like the right one? Thanks mate. |

It's sort of like a ball and socket joint, give it a fair pull from around the cigarette lighter area, pretty hard to break, once you take it off, you will understand completely how it works.....very simple

Bugger! ..Have to wait 'til tomorrow then
Dont understand how they are "tamper proof" if the bit is readilly available over the counter, lol?! Just another question while in here.. Is it hard to install a new CD deck? Or are the wires connecting the original deck labelled or something? |

Installing a new deck is pretty easy, so long as you have the wiring diagrams.. Only thing you have to really worry about is if the stock brackets will go on the new HU perfectly.

Ive got everything i need to install it within the kit..
Its a Pioneer DEH-P1Y deck and comes with the wiring diagram and bracket. Will the new bracket replace the factory bracked alright? Ive installed a deck in my old car about a year or so ago.. In an old XF falcon, lol, but that deck had knowhere near as many wires as this deck has?! Is there anywhere i can get a wiring diagram for my factory deck? That way it'll save me from trying to figure out which wire is what when installing the new one. |

the funny screws your talking about are torque screws, you can buy a security bit set from d**k smith for about $15. i wouldnt use the cradle that comes with the HU. the sides of the HU has a selection of screw holes to mount brackets, simply line up the existing brackets on the side of the new HU to make sure that it will sit the same as the old one, to make it easier do one side at a time and mirror it buy sitting the old HU beside the new. you may have to drill and counter sink some new holes in the bracket to suit. the mounting will be alot more rigid than the cradle and will be harder to steal.

By the way, what are your opinions about the deck? Any good? Here's the info: http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entert ... index.html Any feedback about the deck would be greatly appreciated! |

just to be mega anal and it may save you a trip back you will need the correct number torx driver and make sure it has a hole in the centre as the cheap ones do not always have this
