I'm trying to remove some of the leads from this spare plug, I want to add one into the cluster connector to enable the driving light symbol in my EF cluster.
Tips? Do you use a pin and somehow release it from the front, or just get some pliers and reef it out? I've tried reefing it, not moving...   I know someone here would have done this. Cheers. |

get a sewing machine needle or something similiar and stick it down the end opposite the wire, your looking for a little tab on the back of the metal sleeve.. push the tab in and the connector should come out fine.. done it lots of times on lots of connectors.

That doesn't look like the cluster plugs I've seen, but if the above method doesn't work just break the plug up, as I couldn't get the pins out of the ef/el cluster plug to come out, don't forget to shift the locking thing they use when refitting.
Goodluck with it, always nice to have those factory finishing bits to clean it up.

OZBMX, its probably a spare plug off an aerial or demister switch then. I can't remember, I just cut it from a wreck to get the leads. I'll smash it if I can't get them out, thanks.

I might be stating the obvious - the pins from that plug you've shown won't fit the instrument cluster, way too big.
As mentioned, prise the white retainer from the back of the inst cluster plug (otherwise it'll cause you grief) and lift the plug finger retaining the pin away from the pin - this is done from the plug front.

Plug sounds good, let me know when the mirror is ready, and how much $.
I noticed them on ebay, yes. I'll have a go at cleaning that base today and see how it comes up. |
