The electric aerial in my EL Fairmont wagon gets power but the aerial itself doesn't go up or down. It's the original Factory Ford item so I'd like to keep it if possible but my question is, Can it be repaired?

it depends whats wrong with it? if the motor works but it dont go up or down the mast cord is probably striped? but you can get replacement masts for them..

The motor works perfectly so I'm guessing like you said, The mast cord could be stripped. Is it an easy job to replace?

Usually its just the cable is stripped, if you can hear the motor going. I've done a few. Did one the other day, the cable had completely snapped! Easy repair, I use that exact same Aerpro kit too. It only takes a few minutes to get the aerial out, and its all pretty straightforward.

Go to the doco page, use 'find', look for 'antenna'.
I think the rest you can manage on your own . . . . .

i beleive the doco is only how to intall a antanna, not how to repair one??

It mentions taking it apart to lube the internals.
Sure it's no step by step guide, but it should be enough for someone that is confident with tools to know that they can open it up and, as long as they're careful, be able to put it back together. |

Apply power to retract the antenna, monitor actuator cable so its winding on the winder assy. Disconnect power. Install mast and refit grub screw.
