SO i still dont completely understand...what is the difference from having a module or doing the bypass mod? Don't they both disable the factory smartlock immoboliser? Does that also mean the smartlock flashing light on the dash is disabled?

the smartlock bypass module completely overrides the factory BCM / Smartlock module, whereas just adding the second barrel, the factory smartlock system is still in use. If the factory system has a fault (which a lot of them do these days due to bad solder joints on the PCB) then the bypass module is the better way to go as long as you also bypass the starter inhibit.
The bypass module also makes it easier for engine transplants etc because you dont need to install the factory BCM / Smartlock module to get the ecu working. |

Are the police parked in your driveway every morning before you guys start work? Come on... illegal or not I bet ya half of you have something illegal on or done to your cars right now.
Remote start isn't a big deal.

Its not a case of remote start being illegal, it is a case of your insurance company having the right to not pay out the policy if your car is stolen and recovered, and the assessor finds it had a remote start system.
I havent seen one remote start system on the market that is standards approved, put it that way. Your policy details that the car must be fitted with either a factory or an aftermarket standards approved immobiliser. Having tha the remote start option on your vehicle can cost you a lot more money than the cost of installing the device in the long run if the insurance company does find out - its just a warning - no big deal. |

Yeah true. I still dont think I'm going to insure mine yet because its still cost 2 grand for me SO I'm thinking I might stick to the remote start now.
I really wanted to use this alarm in tandem with the smartlock, obviously though apart from the IR in the key barrel. So according to the Smartlock Bypass for E-Series doc, its says either take the PCB & put it in a jiffy box or have another barrel handy. I just want to get clear that the rest of the smartlock system will still work? Still abit confused...

So im starting to wire it up now & it says to wire afew things up on the negative or positive trigger side of things. Eg handbrake swith, central locking, etc, what does that mean?
Ans also does anyone know where the signal wire is for an Ef? I need it for the remote start but i can't find it in the manual...

Just a side note for you smokey. I got my system all wired up today and it works a treat. My ultrasonic sensors need fine tuning but the alarm itself works well. Like I said earlier though, I didn't get remote start hooked up so I can't comment on that. I'll get that done in the future when I grab a smartlock bypass module. The stingey bastards didn't hook up my boot release either... A bit p****d of at that.

Oh sorry typo I meant the Tacho signal wire which is needed for the module to know how long to crank until the motor has started for the remote start.
Thanks Moongoose thats good to hear. I'm going to see how I go. Does anyone else have remote stat on their smartlock falcon?

It means the central locking - falcons are negative triggered.

This guy has this smartlock bypass module but has another one which has a extra wire, that when grounded will stop the bypass device from sending its code signals. Do you guys rekon if you wired it with either the remote start or unarm operation of the rhino alarm that smartlock can still be used in tandem?

The wires are....
red= 12 volts black=ground yellow=smartlock signal blue=not connect, the smartlock codes WILL run or blue=grounded/connected to negative, the smartlock codes will NOT run. Think it will work the way i want it to anyone?
