I read on an SQ page (I think refering to the likes of focal) that for best sound quality, you should use the same series of speakers in the front and back of your car, but subwoofer choice doesn't matter.
I can see the reasoning in this, because they would be designed to create sound in a VERY similar way. Has anyone had experience with this? As i'm getting my new splits soon, should I also order a set of 2 ways for the back from the same series? |

I'm enlightened!
Thank you so much! I think I'll scrap the whole idea, remove my stereo and spend my days with my windows down, listening to the wonderful burble of my lukey exhuast. |

what, you just need basic speakers. Look at Pyroays car. Super dooper speakers in the front and $200 pioneers in the back.

pretty convincing that you wanted to spend a s**t load of money on something you as a driver should never hear. i have heard from a guy who competes in the euro pro for proper SQ dont have your rears on as they distort the sound image across the front of the vehicles cabin.

now this is the kind of information I was chasing! For general driving, I think I still like the "stage" to be taken not to behind me, but to almost level with me.
I find that rear "fill" provides more presence... |

I've upgraded my headunit to a Pioneer, got Rockford Fosgate amps for the front Alpine Splits and 12" Rockford woofer, and I'm still happy running my stock rear speakers off theheadunit.

$2,000 front stage + factory pioneer rear fill with bandpass crossover so it only play';s midrange no highs, no lows = Australian Sound Quality Champion 2004 Rears are purley if you have back seat passangers, it makes no difference what sort you get for that purpose but for SQ point of view many have none or bandpassed to prevent soundstage from being drawn backwards. I'd rather sit in the back of my car with no rear fill and listen to the front stage and sub than have rear fill comming from behind me.

Sounds like a plan. My speakers, 2 new amps and active crossover have been ordered and paid for! It's a matter of being patient for another 10 days now!
I'll just leave sony rears there, or just put the drivers from my splits in the back. I think the fronts will be so loud the wont need rear fill. Just need to get my pods built. |

as i said
dont need the rear speakers, driver should never hear them. i think im going to carpet over my rear speaker holes, or possibly leave the speaker covers there and vent bass into the cabin, might have a play and see what that sounds like actually.

well i need my rear speakers cos at the moment i only have 4" in the front and the sixes in the back give some low range sound. Other than that i wouldn't have them. But it does make you feel like the sound surrounds you a bit better.

You're pretty much thinking what I was. Rear speakers seem to make a bit more "feeling" or prescence in the music
