I'm just toying with the idea of putting screens in the headrests for the backseat. Now how abouts do you go about mounting the screen in the headrest? Do you remove the material, and build a completely new headrest, with the spot at the back to put the screen.

Anyone got any pictures? Also i remember on FM1, a guy with an AU, that had a pretty crazy system, with a DVD-Player in his middle console. I don't spose he's on here any more?

I think his name *might* have been bmerigan on FM V1 - I'm surprised he's not on your aufalcon site ??

neo_nick is in the process of doing rear headrests for his NL AFAIK - it's only taking him forever and a day though hehe.

I dont think it would be that difficult (unless you're nick  ) to make your own. I've seen prefab ones on ebay but looks silly if there not the same as the rest of the car.

I dont think there's much of a "frame" inside the headrest so would prolly just need to insert something sturdy to mount the screen on and then trim it all up to look pretty.

Maybe head to wreckers and grab spare headrest to experiment on? Lol, we have a bloke here in SA with "monty cam".. modified a headrest in his EB monty to mount a video camera on. Very cool.

Yep, that's what Nick did - go to a wrecker and pick up a pair of headrests out of an AU taxi - no regrets ripping them to shreads

btw - if you're interested, I may have an Alpine TME-580 5.5" screen up for sale - purpose built for rear headrest installation too :)

Good luck and happy hunting !

Cheers,
Steve

headrest screens come with brackets etc. You cut the slot out the headrest, fit the brackets and tighten.

I have a feeling your the one that has the awesome system in the AU.

Do you have msn, where you can send me some high quality pics. You've given me inspiration!!! Do you have a dvd player in your middle console?

Thanks

personally i don't like the headrest ones, prefer the money spent on a large roof mount, so much more entertaining

Yeah same here - it makes for a more stealth install too IMHO.
