cheers mate =D. my friend told me to put the 10" free air into the existin 8" hole....but i prefer leaving the sub in the boot where noone can see it. i didnt want to cut the whole bigger to fit it straight in so i had to raise that part too to bit in the sub....so i just left it as is.....good luck with it if u do go ahead and when u do pics would be great =D
phong =P~ btw i saw ur 8" sub. did that come with the car or did u get it aftermarket? and if u did how much did u pay for it?

Looks clean and professional mate but as i read down you mentioned installing a sub. Sorry but all that work wasnt really needed if running a sub. A pair of 6" coaxial or splits would have sounded the same with a sub. Atleast we all know where to buy a neat custom 6x9" parcel shelf set up from if you ever change your mind.

^_^ i dun mind. even though the speakers produce good bass......it just isnt enough i reckon :S. i had the same speakers in my EA and a sub but the speakers werent that great with the punchy bits so i bought a 10" to give it a bit of a punch. hope it sounds better. and yeah my speakers are an odd 7.5" or 8".....they fit in the 8" sub hole that the EL's have. but cheers =D ill probably wont part with it but wouldnt mind making it for people if i get time.
cheers phong =P~

This is the last image im going to post here about my system. that sub is a 10" Pioneer Free-Air Sub so its saving a lot of space in the boot......then again i never used the boot for this since its just sitting on the back of the rear seats. not finished yet still gotta stuff some cushioning on the sides so that the waves dont cancel each other out from the front and back

good job there. I normally as a rule dismiss that a speaker larger than 6" can look good on the parcel shelf because it ruins the flow of the shelf.
However..... you proved me wrong!

cheers mate =D. was great fun making......some swearing and lascerations to my hand but in the end came out well. got the head unit put in from my EA and tested it and found out i had tweeters in the factory sound system. that was an interetsing find but then i connected the amp temporarily to see how the sub and speakers went. sub was sounding good in doof doof, but when it came to RnB lower and longer bass sounds it sound pretty crappy but expected from a 10"......and the speakers worked a charm =D. and that completes my system for now until i get more money.

yes it is in an EL and i used mdf i think it was 3mm or something. i removed the whole interior because i had to clean it anyway and also removed the side plastic panels where the seat belts are so i can move it in and out basically everything was just out of the car, made it easier to work around. but yeah the shelf isnt flexible. if it did flex then it would snap in the centre for mine anyways. the original one wasnt hard but i didnt have to flex it to remove it completely.
hope that answered ur question phong =P~

Instead of starting a new topic I thought I'd put it in my really old thread started last year some time when I had the car off the road.
Anyways this is a new system install. Though there are no pictures to show what my previous ones look like because my web provider thingy changed some plans. Long story short you can't see the difference between my old and new unless you have seen the old one before. Anyways I have been working on this for quite and while and been slack at it but in the last 2 weeks I have been working on it 2 times a week. This is what I got so far. BTW the amp from the cabin looking into the boot is behind a 10mm glass...that way the amp is ventilated rather then suffocating. phong =P~

nice pick up dude! I've been looking for some of those subs for ages! simply because they are an awesome free air sub, i don't think pioneer makes them anymore. how much did they set you back?
