At cash converters today I saw 2 12" Kenwood Subs in a box for $249. I don't know the model but I'll have a bit of a shot at describing them.

They're an older model becuase they're not on the kenwood website, they had like this red bobble thing in the middle of the sub, and I don't think they were 'smooth' as such (i.e. they had some sort of twisted design on them, not drawn, but like part of the sub).

Yeah, I know, pretty s**t description but if you guys have some pics, I may be able to say which one it is.

From what I have said, do you guys think it would be a good buy?

Cheers,

Michael

i think i know the ones your talking about. one new cost about that, so if you like the look, its going to be loud enough and they look in good nick do it.

just make sure they show you them working.

Yeah they look pretty good imo, and yeah - definatly get them to show me they work. They also appear to be in pretty good condition too.

Cheers

Alright, I went back and got some pics today, does anyone know what a possible model number would be? Output figures? (I realise this stuff would be hard to predict unless Kenwood only made one sub that looked like this).

But yeah, info/opinions anyone?

Can't help ya with model but heres a tip from my brother when shopping at Cashies: Make a scene about it being stolen. Then they give it to ya at the price you offer just to get rid of ya! :!: Works an absolute treat

Do you think $250 (with possible haggle :P) is worth it for two with a box? Like for the output?

I worked there for a while as ayoung lad and trust me - you kick up a stink about them being possibly stolen after saying I'll give yah $180 for them they will box it up and send it with you for the price you want!!

At the end of the day its pretty cheap for 2 boxed Kennys - especially being 12" - although not knowing how old they are doesn't help either... Or what wattage they're rated at... For that kind of money though, Autobarn are doing some pretty good pricing on subs - my brother got his Kenny 1000w 12" for like $90 - so he bought 2 and 2 1000w amps - The subs were cheap - the amps were the ring stinger....

Up to you dude... But there might be some better options out there thats all...

mate the subs are pretty good champ, i run 2 of them the y are KFC-3009's from memory, they are pretty cool subs, not absoulte bass crunchers but if your after some nice quality punchy bass with the right amp and tuning they go pretty hard (better than pioneer's imo). for $250 second hand is an absolute max, i would hagel the price down. Make sure the box is sealed if its not ported and that the subs move with pressure behind them and without any scratching noise.

i pulled a 134db in a LWB ford maverick with my 2 before i got my falcon!

Thanks for the replies guys, and with the saying that they're stolen thing at cashies, do you mean saying "hey, my mate had some that look suspiciously like these that were stolen" or go "these could be stolen, reduce the price!"?

Just mention that one of your mates had 2 go missing that look identical to this setup and say you'll buy them and check with him, and if it does turn out to be his, you'll ring the coppers and send them down there - but make sure you haggle that price down first... Didn't matter what it was, if someone arked up about it being possibly stolen we made sure we got it out of our hands pretty damn quickly...

people have this bad image about cash converters. All cash converter stores BY LAW have to provide a serial number and description for everything they buy. They also dont buy s**t. If it works you get money. If its f**k then they f**k it off.

But it pays to look around. I was at cashies and got a set of pioneer dual cones just to replace the ford speakers. They wanted $65 and i said ill put $45 on the counter and expect a docket. Well they did that. Went next door to supercheap and there are the exact same ones for $55 on special. I wasnt too fussed seeing as mine were sealed anyway.
