i updated my speakers so i thought id post them in here for those wagon owners wanting to look at upgrading

EA wagon, no cutting or anything
jaycar 6" splits speakers turned to fit into hole (hole fits a 5 1/4 perfectly)
Image

5 1/5 VDO splits in rear, tho too small for the tailgate hole. might fit if you have the bracket, i just mounted the speakers to the outer cover panel

cheers, i was going to block in the map section but make the end produce flat at the bottom, but after testing the speaker int he hole and realized it would it i decided to go this way.

what inspired me to test it was a pic i found of someone who had mounted the speakers on the outside of the trim, but had power windows, so i was going to mount it to the inside of the trim but didnt have too :D

I just looked again & realized the trims have manual winders on them, modified to fit manual winders i take it?

Cheers

actually no. nothing was modded at all, they fit with about a 10-15mm gap before the winder, i still have the foam pieces (2 of) there, they are squished a bit but nothing that will put pressure on anything or break anything.

ahhh lol yeah fairmont/fairlane trims, cant remember what car they came from lol. lined them up drilled them out from the inside then from the outside so it didnt stuff the fabric. my dad used to be an auto trimmer so these wont be staying long, once i con him into buying a new sewing machine lol

the backs need seeing too as they have the holes for the power window switches. i can either put the switches in or make a blank plate but seeing as tho its only the little one in the back no one sees them lol

peaandham may i suggest that you place your sub's further back or if you can squeeze them between the gas tank and the back seat, maybe even turn them around so that the cone of the subwoofer is faceing the rear of the car, i think you may be surprised at the sound difference.

cheers
Tomo

With a LPG tank in there, there isn't much room for more than a couple of amps between the tank & seats. :(

Cheers

Well actually with a little research into Sound Quality loading the subs the way your suggesting (facing the boot) is good for a loud setup but the quality then depends on how full the boot is, where as facing the rear seats allows for accurate clearer sounding bass but at the same time compromising how loud the can go ! but i would rather better SQ more than a hi SPL Set up !

Slide it to the back still facing forwards and you have the same SQ and a little more SPL.

yea all i was thinking is that with the subs sitting where they are they might be muffled a bit by the gas tank, i could be completely wrong here but i think that the vibrations would be coming out of the cone, bouncing off the tank and reverberating back, hence, muffling the sound kinda like a hotdog does on an exhaust. just a thought, i like to throw my two cents in here and there lol.

cheers
Tomo
