thanks fordAUte, at least your head unit is replaceable i had a lot of sound quality issues before the imprint processor went in because im limited to using the ford head unit As its all integrated into the dash.
But yeah good luck mate if your not keen on spending so much on speakers mate in the mid price range i have in the past had a really good run with infinity products i reckon they are well underrated for their price range i had a set of 6 inch splits in the reference series in my first ute they were great and then i had a set of 6 inch splits in the kappa series and they were fantastic they are supposed to retail around 400 but you can often get them from either wowsight and sound for about 290 at the right time just a thought mate but spend an hour tuning everything properly and those afore mentioned speakers can outshine speakers twice that price. A quality head unit is the best place to start and lots of dynamatt too. Try ryda.com.au lots of great deals on there mat most things start at 25% less than major retailers. Obie.

yeah i got a full boot and two doors worth of dynaMatt from them for roughly 200 i think and everywhere else the kit was more like 300 so not a bad site at all.

thought this could be of interest to you seeing you have same model ute. its adapters for the 5x7 in the doors so they can fit 6x7. pretty cheap too! says there for ba/bf's but au's have 5x7 as well so should be the same. im probably going to get them so i'll let you know how they go

i think i might go with a 6/6.5" adaptor first for the front speakers, but when i get around to the back i will prob use the ones you suggested... cheers mate...

I don't have a big setup in my XH but I figured making it quieter in terms of road noise etc would be a good start. Doing the whole thing in Dynamat added up to a fair bit but I came across a stack of carpet underlay at work which I lined everything with (cause it was free). It fits ok on the rear wall but a bit tricky in other places, though after I put the seats and floor mats back in I don't notice it being uneven. I've heard of people using that roof lining stuff called Flashtac too if you don't want to spend much money but its pretty hard to get off once it's on.
Dynamat would have been much easier to fit and work better, but the underlay was free and it did make a noticeable difference. I was happy with how it turned out. Now I just have to find the 50 mystery rattling noises in a 13 year old car and it'll be sweet. |

yeah i have been known to use cotton wool in fibreglass speaker moulds and stuff in previous cars i have owned it does the job. But dynaMatt is really good if you have like reverberation and rattles i have found any way. But anything soft tends to make a reasonable difference.

The problem with the ute is lack of room.
I did have some massive kicker subs hooked up in the tray of mine, but the rattle was insane and I couldn't be bothered sorting it out at the time, so I sold them xD. The current plan is to buy a pair of subs, remove the toolboxes from behind my seats and mount them there... I'll post up some picas when I get it done, I'm hopeful that it'll be around christmasish. |

can you post up a picture of these toolboxes behind your seat?
im not sure if it was you or not, but someone said that there is tool boxes designed to fit in behind the seats (and also in the front of the tray) but i have never seen or heard of these before... im curious... i have 2 slim subs... but no amps so no noise for me, but they look good :p

I'll take some photos, they're just little plastic things, nothing extreme. Come standard (or as an option, I guess) as far as I know.
Personally I think they're useful as hell Be sad to get rid of them. |
