Hello all,

got a UHF radio to install into the missuses EL and she HATES cables and untidiness.

I have a nice compact Uniden UH-089 to go in, the antenna and cabling is already there. and she thinks the 6db elevated feed looks cool (wtf.... damn females)
I had a measure up and it will not fit into the coin tray without some cutting, anyway I am looking for inspiration here so if people can post pictures of their UHF installs that would be great, doesn't matter if they're remote head, commercial units or 20 year old ones.

i am also getting interference through the ciggie lighter so i am going to run power direct from the battery... when i upgrade those horrible ford terminals.

another crazy idea of mine is to crack open the Uniden i have here and see if I can make it remote head... just a thought.

Cheers

Thinking of carving this up:

I might use the hot knife and cut out the back part of the coin tray.

I have a Uniden UH7760NB and when I had my EL Fairmont wagon I had everything completely hidden apart from the mic and the mic cord which sat neatly in the small console tray just below the ashtray. I'm sure I still have some pics on photobucket...I'll see if I can find them.

I tried doing a similar install in my AU ute but it didn't work out the way I wanted it to so it's located under the dash to the left of the steering column where it is still pretty well hidden and again all you can really see is the mic and mic lead.
