can i use a 12v plug and terminate it to a multi meter, would its read out be accurate through, i havea cheap DSE ine here and fluke taht i cna use for spl comps when needed at work

justto keep an idea on volts so i cna see if i should let my amp burp again.it should be prettya ccurate shouldn't it? there should be jack all resitance, an dteh meter shoun't ahve to much lag. esspically with the top of teh range fluke

yer if u run it straight to the battery +ve and a close good earth with at least 5mm wire it should be decent.
or just buy a volt meter gauge will look heaps nice in the car

Connect it directly to the positive terminal of the amp so you can see what the voltage is there as it will be lower than it is at the battery.
Voltage display from Jaycar or Tandy about $20 and you can install it anywhere. I have one and it works well.

yea do wat pyro said, a multimeter isnt really practical, and just to answer ur statment
 they have a huge resistance so that they dont load the cct wen measuring voltage, because if the meter was low r, then u wud be creating a short cct with the meter . Just some random info for ya
