I was looking at what my SCT Eliminator chip can do and it has an option where you can turn the dial to anti-theft position (it disables the PCM). So i'm guessing if its switched to that you are not going to be able to start the car at all. I don't think a car thief will be trying to muck around with the ECU either.

When i had my VL, the insurance company i was with insisted a RoboLoc. Dont know if it is still around, but what it did was drop dead bolts through the bottom of all 4 doors into the sills and also into the middle pillar. Cost 1500 but when activated you could not open any doors. They also insisted on a tracker, which had ongoing yearly subscription costs, but could remotely kill the car and activate the Roboloc, so if they did get in and steal it, they couldnt get out.
Major thread mine though Brett

Well at least it looks like they just took a few bits and pieces, would of been worse if the had of totalled it. Nothing a wrecker run wouldn`t fix. I never knew smartlock was so pissweak. Love the B5 colour. Hopefully they got a print and get em!

Just take out the control fuse. It's called something like that ??
Anyway it powers the bcm. I once blew it and nothing worked . Was trying to figure out what it was. But yea car won't start. Windows won't go up. Car won't unlock .

Wait wait wait.... So I have had an ED sitting on my lawn for months after I parked it and lost the keys and all I needed was a screwdriver and vice grips? The lowest quote from a locksmith was $270 to do a new key. And it is hard to justify spending that amount on what was supposed to just be a donor car. I'd strip it where it is but its less my lawn, and more my girlfriend's dad's driveway.
