Hey all

I'm put the stereo from my old car into my new car... slight problem.. the tailgate rattles HEAPS. I'm looking for ways to stop the vibrations. What does everyone here use. I'm a complete newb to sound insulation and stuff so speak slowly and clearly :P

Cheers

Got the foam tape already.. bunnings aye.. crap. I was just there today. I'll have to go back this weekend. Doesn't seem like many ppl bother with this kind of stuff... judging by the lack of responses and the number of rattling boots around Perth hehehehe

Right.. now where do I put this stuff? My guess is that I can either cover all my plastics in it or I can stick it to the plastics on the backside of the panels.

i guess just go over the whole tailgate one rattle at a time, work out what is rattling and stop it - usually by putting something between the 2 rattling pieces. (foam, silicone, whatever)

Nothing... they only had like 3 ppl working in the whole warehouse.. so after I finally got help (35mins later ) it turned out they didnt have any in stock.

Anyways it's called "quiet stuff" and comes in a packet of 8 sheets. Here's the prices I was quoted:

1170x430x90mm $49
1170x580x90mm $65
1170x430x75mm $45
1170x580x75mm $55

I'm thinking I'll order the 1170x580x90mm stuff.

Yeah they were clueless aye.. kept trying to tell me they only had "bradford SoundScreen insulation".. pffftttt... morons.. you just gotta ask every single person in a bunnings uniform until finally you get someone that knows.

If it helps you, the F/L numbers are:
0810601 for 1170x430x90mm
0810619 for 1170x580x90mm
0810546 for 1170x430x75mm
0810596 for 1170x580x75mm
That's the numbers they need to type into their little computers so that they know what you're talking about... the morons. Remember.. explain things slowly and clearly to them hehehe
