How about instead of throwing good money after bad, build a proper box designed for your subs, you'll get more improvement from the right box then buying expensive subs.

You can also build it to suit the car, so if nothing but loud noise is what you want, go for it. If you want a sub that can play low with authority and no resonance you can do that too.

A good system is much more than just buying big brand names. Correct installation is half the job.

me = current ACT sound quality champion (Street Pro class), 2008 South Coast Nats 'Best Sound Quality Overall' winner.

Personally I'd say it depends what you want out of the sub

SQ
Boston G2 or G5
Focal V2
DSL

SPL
anything from DD that fits your budget

My personal experience sits in SQ and SPL comps using Bostons, DLS and DDs, friends have the focals though and do well in the comps.

But it all comes down to what you want out of it, how it sounds to you and

INSTALL!!!!! (do the install right dont mess around and you will be hell happy!)

Depending on the current 12"s you may just have to slightly widen your woofer holes....as the Type-R do run a slightly wider diameter setup...will see when you go to drop em in

I like my Fusion Encounter. 90 bucks, does everything I need it to do. However, I don't desire to blow my f**k head off.

I'm an audio engineer and own a small car audio business. And without being arrogant, I reckon I know a decent sounding system when I hear it. The little Fusion bastard seems to do it for me. Obviously not perfect, and not up there with the stupidly expensive ones, but for 90 dollars, absolutely incredible.

That being said, if I were to spend more money, Alpine Type R's.
