Think front doors speakers on early E-series were 4". My mom's EBII are 6" though, I'm not sure when exactly the change over was.
In the E-series I've seen the parcell shelf speakers are 6", not hard to swap them over either!!! |

The EB1 had the 4" front speakers, and the 2 spoke EA steering wheel
The EB2 had the 6" front speaker, and a 3 spoke steering wheel (with the exception of the EA-ED models that had cruise control, the still had the EA style Steering wheel)

Can confirm the above. I've done stereos on all of them.
(and a Daewoo Lanos, cheap car - many bleeding fingers)

I have a suggestion for mounting speakers in the rear parcel shelf.
The best set-up I ever had was in my XE Falcon. I knew a cabinet maker at the time and managed to get myself the cut out from a double sink with a double drainer. It was about 45-50mm thick. I cut it to suit the shape of the old parcel shelf then trimmed it to if perfectly. Then marked out the holes for the original speakers so they we in the right spot. Using grey speaker sealent when mounting the speakers I fitted them in the holes with no air leaks around the mounting. These were 6" speakers from the Jaycar split system. I then mounted 2 8" subs in the middle of them. This was an awesome set-up when driven by the Jaycar 4 x 50w RMS amplifier. To make the fitment of the parcel shelf very neat fix it through the bottom steel parcel shelf using an internal nut and bolt system from bunnings. Drill a hole into the parcel shelf, (not all the way through). Screw in the "nut" provided with an allen key. You can not see this nut as it is in the parcel shelf and hidden. Then fix it down by screwing the bolt through the metal shelf into the new wooden parcel shelf. Ensure you wire power and speakers WITHOUT skimping on cost. This is the difference between a great system and a medeocre one. Power accessories and speaker wire should be atleat the cost of the speakers. I know some people may not agree with this but hey, we only give advice from our own experiences and I have been asked by many people to design and install stereo systems in their cars and have not had any complaints yet.
