Seem to have a weird problem that I cant seem to get my head around.

I have a clarion head unit which i installed in the car about 8 months ago. The head unit runs the front and back speaker with the amp running the sub.

It happened all of a sudden, turned the head unit on and it seemed as though the front speakers ( 5X7 and tweeters Au fairmont stock front speakers) crackle, can hear it more through the tweeters. If i crank the volume up the tweeter give out a high pitch sqeel as though its reaching maximum handling power.

If i FAD out the back speakers and play only the front it plays fine. As soon as i start fad for the back speakers the crackling and squeeling of the tweeters comes on.

Had a mate look at it and he seems to think that its either a grounding loop problem or that ive blown the head units amp. Nothings been moved or touched and this is happening.

Any help would be appreciated

I saw this happen to a stereo i installed in my younger days.
What happened was that the left and right speaker -ve wires were joined together, called common wiring. It caused the headunit internal amp to stuff up, it was OK at really low volume but freaked out if turned up.

I rewired from headunit to speakers and all was ok.
So, possibly some speaker wiring behind the headunit in your car is shorting.

Make sure the wires for the rear speakers are insulatd and not shorting to anything.
