Hi guys,

This is a really stupid question but how do u tell if your front speakers are stock or aftermarket? Do all aftermarket speakers always have the manufacturer's label on them? Also what size front speakers fit in a ED XR6 without cutting or other door panel modifications?

You can tell easy they generally have the brand that makes them on the back as well as a ford symbol too!! Also ED fronts are 6 inch speakers - so no need to cut and modify the trims

Thx for the reply! Would 6.5" fit or does that require extra cutting?

i think u can just get an MDF board and add it on top of the existing hole to raise it a bit and then cut a hole in it to fit the 6.5" speaker........correct me if im wrong

phong =P~

for the millionth time....

99% o the time there is sfa difference between 6" and 6.5", different brands measure thier speakers differently, some go from the edge of the speaker basket, or the edge of the speaker cone, etc

pioneer fits straight in

buggered if i know, because the diameter of the speaker basket is 6.22" and the diameter of the cone is less than that

but as i've said, there seem to be no hard and fast rules defining speaker size, i've got a set of 5.25" mids here that have the same scre mounting points as a pioneer 6.5"

Probably best just to head into a specialist and ask them if any particular speakers will fit without cutting etc..

Also if anybody has had experience with fitting splits from Jaycar, Focal or Hertz I would like to know how it went it terms of installation.

yes ford measured from screw holes across, hence why its 6.22" small basket 6.5's will fit, larges like the focals i put in will fit with a little modding but its not a big deal :D :P look at the last page of my boot install thread for a pic of what i did, basically ground out the area where the basket hit.
