Just recently ive been getting a strange crackling and a slight loss of volume from the system in my eb. It doesnt appear straight away, but creeps in slowly after about half an hour on both CD and radio.
The setup is: kenwood 4x50w head unit with front and rear pre outs factory splits in the front powered by the head unit cadence 6.5" 2 ways in the rear powered by 2 channels of a 4 channel kenwood amp 2xcadence 10" subs powered by a bridged 2 channel kenwood amp I've had this setup for the last 3 years and havent changed anything appart from the odd fiddle with the gains here and there. it has been very trouble free previous to this with not even a hint of engine noise coming through. The power cable and the rca cables are run up separate sides of the car. I've checked that all the wiring is intact but I dont have a multi meter to check for voltage drop. It does it wether the car is running or not but only after its been playing for a while. Is my gear worn out or could it be somthing very simple that ive overlooked?

unfortunatly no but I think I'll go buy a new head unit, I don't think it's the amps because it comes through the front speakers to which only run from the head unit. Time for an upgrade.

got the same problem in an Isuzu Light Truck at work, replaced the head unit under warranty. Was good for about 3 months then it came back again. Goes good for a while, but as soon as the cab warms up it will lose volume and reception and crackle. Put the aircon on, let it cool down and the prob goes away. Very frustrating.

my money is on the amp in your head unit having a loose/dry sloder joint somewhere, as soon as it gets warm it starts playing up
personally i'd run your front speakers off the amp..... god alone knows why you'd bother running the rears off an amp and the front speakers off the HU...... |

Lazyness my friend pure lazyness. I've had 6.5" splits sitting there to go in for about3years now, just haven't got around to making the inserts to go in the recesses in the bottom of the doors.
