When i fired up my new system today so i could tune it i noticed that my aftermarket tacho was spiking up to around 2500rpm when the car was set on Ignition only, and the music was playing?? but then once i switch the key to ON or start the car the problem seems to go away... Anyone know why this could be happening? not that it really matters... im just more curiouse than anything

cheers

have you recently installed this monster tacho?

cant remember to much about what wiring is required for them but i pressume your problem will
have something to do with your accessories wire?

Maybe check connections?

nah its been in for a good 2 yrs or so and this never happend on my old system... but just sitting here now iv just realised what it might be, behind the headunit there is a white wire with red swirls around it that i wasnt sure what was for so i hooked it up to the only remaining wire coming from my new headunit... and disconnecting/connecting didnt seem to change anything at all... i bet you if i disconnect it the problem will stop

Could that have been a the power aerial wire from the stereo and a lighting wire for tacho?

Just a thought...
