Hey guys
i spent the last two nights installing a new pioneer head deck into my car.
I took my time with it did it slowly.
Firstly i took out the old one, and cut off the old wiring loom.

Then i checked each on of the speakers with a 9 volt battery found the correct 4 speakers and soldered them to the new loom.

Then i put the car in accessory and found the 12 volt and ground.

Then i found the other 12 volt and connected it all up.

When i started the car the cd player nor the car would start.

The Cd player would eject cd's but not turn on, and the car "cranks" but doesnt actually start up.

car is a 97 el ford falcon futura

no imboiliser that i know of
12 volts was being pulled from the old head unit.

ive reinstalled the old wireing loom with the old headdeck still wont start.

the power mirrors work, the power windows dont, the radio doesnt turn on, the central locking from the inside doesnt work however, if you lock/unlock from the door it does all 4 of them like usuall

Ive also checked all fuses

Does anyone know why?

On my EB, there are *2* wires for Ign Power. if you didnt keep them joined you loose power to smartlock/BEM (from memory).

Otherwise - Check fuses (like others have said).

From memory, ELs don't require the 2 wires for ignition. There is just accessories, power and earth.

I think your Smartlock may have been engaged if you disconnected the battery. If you didn't disconnect the battery, most likely I believe it would be a blown fuse due to a short some where.

Besides that...I have run out of ideas for now.

thanks alot for the replys guys
ive checked all the fuses, nothing blown.

i did disconnect the battery during installation though... as i was told i had to do?(as u can probably tell this is my first install). How can i fix the smart lock if its been activated? The remote locking key no longer functions, however if i unlock the door from the drivers door the central locking still works.

Whats this about a interior light bulb? Non of the interior lights work? Is this the problem? By Interior light bulb do you mean the hood light? the one on the roof? IVe checkd the bulbs on the roof and all of them seem fine.

if EBII to ED CRT_Lamp fuse blown.. is not i don't know
Can you please explain this better? This is my first attempt to do anything with cars so i really dont understand

And ive checked all the fuses, everythign seems fine.
I am thinking now it has something to do with smart lock?

Thanks HEAPS for all the responses guys :)

From previous experience, you might be missing the earth for the bcm,you might have wired it up in th wrong spot or just notwired it up at all.The car will still crank but there is no spark or fuel, also your smart lock light wont flash.Another thing to keep in mind try to tap the lower panel of the dash above your left leg whilst having the key in the cranking position (maybe a faulty bcm),but also check if your smart lock light flashes, you might be missing that earth,i did a similar thing fitting an after market cd player to a ed fairmont once back together, went to start the car and wouldnt start, would wind over,so i quickly checked for spark was none then checked the related fuses and they were fine, then i noticed the smart lock light,so i pulled it all out again and checked my wiring and found that i connected the earth wire up wrong.hope that helps.

If the interoir lights dont work, then the crtlmp fuse is blown. Replace fuse and all should be good
By damaging this fuse, smart lock is enabled, hence no start. I did this to mine years ago, fuse looked OK, but changed it and it started

by the way : crt_lpm fuse means the courtesy lamp fuse

It needs to be good for both the interior lights, and for smartlock to work.

You have to reprogram the remotes into the BEM. I don't remember how that is done but there is a tech doco somewhere.

When you put the key in the ignition, does the smartlock light flash when the key is turned to on? If it flashes then the BEM has not recognized the key and so the car is now immobilized.

To reprogram the key into the BEM do the following:
1) Make sure the ignition and all accessories are Off.
2) Turn the key to Accessories and within 5 seconds, depress the rear demister switch 3 times. Don't depress it too quickly or else it may not register it being depressed.
3) After depressing the rear demister 3 times, the door locks will cycle (ie. lock and unlock) indicating it is now in Normal mode.

If it isn't the smartlock, you might want to check the CRT_Lamp fuse again and make sure it isn't blown and check if the dome light bulb (the one on the roof lining) isn't blown either.

Besides that I don't know whats up...good luck.
