So i was driving along, and my sub stopped working, the amp still seems to be running fine, the protection light is off.

So i took all the wires off the amp, plugged em all in again, checked connections, checked the fuses and battery, all seems to be good. But it wont work...

Anyone got any ideas on why it just stopped. It sucks so bad without it.

thanks

Do you have an actual sub pre-out on your head unit? maybe there was a glitch or something and it has selected itself off? check the settings on the head unit maybe?

Have the connections to the sub itself been damaged at all? mabe the Sub is at fault if you have checked everything else... Give it a good look over, terminals could be loose or broken.

i checked the RCA, doesnt work, i the pre out is fine, altho i just found the setting to change it from sub to rear, but i changed it and changed it back a few times to no avail.

But now the car wont work at all, i took the f**k battery out and the bastard thing wont work at all. Everythings hooked up right but it just wont turn over.

The sub is a 12'' clarion 600W 300WRMS.

The Amp is an 'Xtreme' amp, 300W. (or 600, cant quite member)

The autobarn guy said itd run perfectly. Being completely unco at car audio, i just nodded my head and said ill take one.

The amp runs my 6x9's fine so im guessing theres a problem with the sub itself.

Thanks for the link pyroay, i cant try another sub, i dont know anyone in queensland who has one. (just moved to surfers 3 days ago)
All wires are fine, crossovers are fine, as for earth, the amp runs fine with no earth, altho its bolted to the chassis of te car so that might be why, but the earth wire is still connected and earthed. All wires are fine, i think its 4 guage. I bought a DNA amp wiring kit from autobarn. Havnt looked at things from the H/U end, but since the 6x9's work fine, im guessing its all apples there.

I had a close look at the sub, it all looks fine, but there is evidence of moisture, the cone looks like its had water on it, i dunno how, its been sealed in box for months.

Might be time for a new sub. :(

I took the sub to autobarn, the guy tested it, and its rooted, said it was running infinate ohms, so theres a break somewhere.

Its only 6 months old, max, so if i can get mum to get the reciept out of the bin, ill take it back.
