Hey fellow ford lovers was wondering if its possible to install amp and sub to the standard head unit in a FG XR6 falcon. I heard there is something you can hook up to the speaker wires and converts it to rca but where does the memory lead go for the amp?

You can use line level converters or a sound processor, if you use the live level converters you can tap into the fuse box so when the ignition turns on the amp will to. With the sound processor they normally have 3 turn on modes without tapping into anything (they still need to be powered though)
Hope this helps!

Yes, basically anything that is turned on when the key turns on the accessories. I would buy a wire tapped fuse jay car part: sf-5110 and use it in the cigarette lighter fuse.

...what do you mean by memory? I assume you mean the signal wire to tell the amp the system is on?
If so, then use the power antenna wire from the head unit...although I am not sure if the stock head unit has a power antenna wire or something of equivalence seeing as they don't have a power antenna. If it does, then I suggest using this due to the fact that, if you turn the head unit off, the amplifier will also power down. Not saying using a cigarette lighter won't work, personally I'd want the amp to power down when the head unit is off. As mentioned before, line converters can be used to tap into the stock signal cables. Something like this http://compare.ebay.com.au/like/1707624 ... eItemTypes or similar. Not sure how well these are in regards to sound quality compared to proper RCA out the back of a aftermarket head unit.

Line level converters for sq applications would be far from ideal. One of my mates used line level converters in his ba for subs. connected them to the rear speakers. The quality wasn't bad either.
