Going to put two 10" Type-S subs in my BA boot. Intending to put each one in separate sealed fibreglass boxes on each side of the boot. The problem is that due to these BA boot being different shapes on each side, it is going to be nearly impossible to get both boxes to be exactly the same volume if i mold the boxes to the shape of the box with fibreglass. Will this create issues where each sub produces a slightly different sound and they begin to cancel each other out? Will the difference be insignificant and not matter?

If canceling is an issue, I will just have to put both subs on one side of the boot in one big box, instead of two small ones. Don't really like this idea as it leaves me with nowhere to put the amp (was going to put the amp next to the sub on the box) and it looks bad because i like symmetry.

mate save the effort, a 12' type r and save money and the hassle. it will pump a million and 10 times more

Do you think? I currently have a single 12" Type-S and and I'm not sure it really meshes too well with the stock 5x7" speakers in the rest of the car (size difference too great). I was hoping that two 10"'s instead of one 12" might give me better sound quality. Can anyone confirm either way?

trust me mate 2x10' will sound good, sound quality will be good and it will be punchy, but it will not have the bass a 12 inch would..

saying this in the most respectful way mate, but type s subs are a shame to the alpine name..


if you can afford the cash a type r 12' with a monoblock will sound heaps better.. its a better, bigger, more powerful sub, possibly best bang for your buck in that price range of subs

What do you listen to if the main question the way that 10s and 12s go.

But no the box size won't, make them cancel out. But if the boxs are too small it won't sound as good as it should.

Example. I had my kicker cvr 12 in a tiny sealed box.... no balls. Had it in the single kicker pack ported box. Pulled 126... s**t all.
Now I got it in a pretty big option audio front slot port box.

Can you expand on this for the strengths of each? For the record, mostly what I listen to is metal (progressive/power/death), rock and sometimes ska. I don't listen to club/house much anymore.

the only difference the size will make is the size and intensity of the bass..
the big subs cant pump as quick or or are slower then small subs is rubbish..

a good quality 12' is most adequate for most applications which is why they are most popular..
