The jaycar subs are good. My brother has the 10" carbon fibre one in his lanos, sounds good when we's got the doors open to avoid rattles.

I may actually look at replacing my current 2x 10"s with those. I've got the monoblock already :) (need a bigger smilie)

Yeah i've got one 12" Response (the carbon fibre looking one) and it goes really well. I was surprised, I'm gonna head down the same route, get a Decent Jaycar Amp to run 2x12"'s and 4 channel to run the speakers. A cheap but effective setup.
But you sound like you're on your way...

go down to jb then hi fi supermarket (not sure if u have it in QLD) and keep bargaining with them. You can get some quality brand speakers and stuff at a big percentage off retail price.

for subs.. id say go Kicker Comps. Good sub, and for amp go Audioline from jb hi fi. Its probably one of the best budget amps going around.
if ur running the amp for just the sub, get the ALN - 2600 (2 channel 600Watt)
Its cheap and pumps the s**t out of the sub!!

I have not enjoyed the sound much from the Kenwood gear but thats not to say that this particular speaker isn't good as i have not auditioned this one.

I would look at the Response dual magnet carbon fibre cone 12" since your going jaycar.

Alternatively the new Alpine Type R's and DLS OA12's are both very good and the same price (rrp $399, street price around $320-$330)

I have never done a back to back so might be an interesting experiment.

Which Jaycar one do you mean the dual voice coil dual magnet one?

I like the Pioneer stuff but i must say Alpine Type-Rs sound good. i have heard that the jaycar subs are really good so u might as well go with them

btw how much is the jaycar dual voice coil cost? i was going to get me one of them.

A week or two ago jaycar has a sale on their entire speaker range. Dunno if that's still a goer or not.

And if like me, you rock up to Jaycar week before Summernats, and buy 3 amps (two 4x130 and one 1x1000) they'll give you a good discount. lol.

Which way did you end up going?

I notice there is an Alpine Type R down here in a nice Alpine box with polished silver on it for $379 new at a store.

Pretty good i thought since the sub rrp is $399
