Ok, but how do you get the actual decent sound out of a song? 6inchs or something?

"They" say that you should spend you bucks on front speakers and whatever is in the back is fill in noise or for your passengers ie not needed.

omg reading this thread is embarassing,
Look you dont need to block the port or make funny tubes, face the sub towards the rear of the car, place the sub up on the ledge not in the middle of the boot secure the sub box so that it has zero vibrations, this will maximise excursion

i was thinking about mounting a 12 inch in the parcel shelf but duno whether it would sound as good as a boxed sub??

If you are after some decent sound, a good set of splits preferably running off an amp will give you a nice front stage. If you have funds to spend on it, invest in some sound deadening for the front doors - it's amazing what it will in terms of sound quality. I'd also ditch the 6x9's in the rear for a good set of 6" - 6.5" 2 way coaxials  Like some guys have suggested, face the sub box so that the sub is firing into the boot, you will most likely find that you will hear more bass inside the cabin. |

yeah bradley4567 but one thing is that i got a gas tank in the back so i wont be able to get a box for it...i may have to go with the box in the boot idea...how great is the sound of a air suspened sub compared to a boxed one?

Yea face the sub around gotta think man, bass is a sound. Vibrating air I guess.
The subs vibrating the little air in the box and the little air infront of it to the seat. Spin it around and the rest of your boot is acting somewhat like a second enclosure. Also I've always had mu sub on the passenger side, facing back and the drivers side rear seat down. But don't expect to much from a sony sub and unknown rms amp. |

iv got a 15inch alpine comp sub awsome when boot is closed, sucks a** when boot is open, its facing upwards, 4inch port hole, huge f**k box, vibrates the s**t out of everything

This, best place for 6x9's is the bin. Same goes for speakers in the rear too. Not needed at all. Never ever. If the rear passengers complain kick them out. Now for the techo explanation. Considering a 6x9 has almost the same cone area as a 8" sub, you've got two of them fighting the one 12" sub. All you'll end up with is a mess - even more so if the sub is out of phase (wired backwards) to the rest of the speakers. Get rid of the 6x9's (bin them, or if you've got enemy's offload them for a sick price to them). Spend some dollars on some good front speakers, and reap the rewards.

eyy matt i wud really love to hear it one day coz im still unsure whether to get a sup in the parcel shelf or not??? ive got 6.5 pioneers in the fornt and back nd ive just bought a $500 pioneer headunit nd i want a pioneer sub but duno where to put it....im goin for the upgraded stock sound system but stiking with pioneer as you've noticed lol
