as i havnt bought my subs and amp for subs yet i thought id ask before i bought them soon... so i need to know a few things about the subs to know what amp i really need to get the best out of them
im going to be using two rockford fosgate t112d2's now there impedence is 2ohmx2 im guessing that means 2 coils at 2ohms each now does that give me a 4 ohm sub? now wiring, whats best? and what impedence will i end up with?? series wiring the subs? parallel wiring the subs or individual channel to each sub(which is what i was going to do) basicly the amp i was looking at will give slightly under the power handling of the subs at 2ohms so if the subs are 4ohms and its best to wire them a certain way then ill need a diff amp to run them.... if anyone can help or even make sence of my issues answers would be much appreciated!!! thanks matt

Well each sub can be wired in series or parallel to give either a 1 or 4 ohm load to the amp. per sub.
Either way youll probably have a 2 ohm load on the amp. |

Yes it will be fine.
Lower impedance means more power, but also more heat. Run it at 1 ohm if you can, and the amp documentation should state if it is 1ohm stable or not. Otherwise just do 2 or 4ohm. |

yer aiming to run them at 2ohms but the subs impedence is 2ohms x2 for each sub does that mean they r 2ohms or 4 ohms?

Each coil is 2 ohms - like you said.
Depends on how you wire them. You can make each sub either 1 ohm or 4 ohm. Then you can wire them at 2 ohms to the amp. Each coil can only take half the total rated power though, so its best to wire them both up. |

ok well the subs are rated at 600wattrms 1000peak so i was going to use a 2 channel amp 1000wattrms so 500wattrms x2channels at 2 ohms or 250wattrms x2 channels at 4ohms.
so after reading amplifier and sub doc's i thought 2ohms would give me good power vs control. i dont want to go buy it if i should have just bought a mono to run both subs at 2ohm's reason im asking now is because i have this feeling ill go spend a fortune on these and then get told "nar mate u should have just bought this type amp and wired it like this"

ok i think i have a better understanding after having a look around and basicly they are saying i would be best running a mono amp to run both subs probably one stable at 1-2ohms as i plan on wiring as a 2 ohm load
