I had thought they were an 8". Don't know the wattage, but suffice to say don't bother trying to get it to do anything interesting...

Yeah probably is 250w in peak output. RMS a different story.

Kinda like my engine makes around 250kw, but at the wheels its a very different (rather depressing  ) story....

I understand the dilema about boot space. I went through the very same thing myself and was determined not to use a sub boxed in the boot. However, I strenuously recommend searching till you find a solution that does not involve the stock sub. It really isn't very good

Pfft boot space i threw that idea out the window lol. Gas tank + sub in box = SFA space int the boot!

The sub is rated at 50wrms and i think you will find that the amp is only 100wrms as its only got suffiecent power for the 8' sub! Could even be less!

I read b4 that the new factory systems in the BA Range etc i think you will find that the sub and amp are 100wrms and 150wrms respectively.... I think.

Better off upgrading :P

the amp is 4x50 watt at 4 ohm, the front speakers are powered by the HU. the power to the sub is only 100watts max! but the driver is rated at 6ohm so its harder to over power it

I think you will find that we think they are 7" is when we measure the face of the woofer, which may not be the way its done.

Err, ok then.
Well put it this way.. If you wish to replace the stock 8" (7" if you wish to call it) with an aftermarket one, you will need to be shopping for an 8" at least, if you wish to fit a 10 there, you could use a bracket made of mdf or the likes..

If you are fitting the sub for bass, don't bother with a 8" on the shelf, especially in a Falcon sized car.
The 8" isn't big or powerfull enought, also the parcel shelf will flex and take bass out.

Get a box, even a pre-fab for autobarn. fit a 10 or 12. 1 or 2 of each. wire them to an amplifier which will handle them.

Also make sure you know what kind of setup you want as well, either SPL or SQ if my memory serves me correct small box + 10' sub = good SQ or
Big box+ 12' sub or 15' or whateva = Good SPL. I may be wrong but thats a fairly general rule to follow. :P

Im sure other people would have different opinions thou...
