went into Gary's Car Radio today to have a look around and I told the guy I was looking at getting a Jaycar amp once I buy a sub. He told me that Jaycar are OK but this fusion amp that he had would pump harder then anything Jaycar had under $350. He offered me this amp for $199
He also told me that the sub listed under the amp would easily outperform a 12" Eclipse 8122.2 sub I was looking at buying. I am very skeptical about this guy and was wondering you peoples opinions.
He said he could give me both the amp and sub for $280 in a ported box.

two things..... you said under $350? Isn't that jaycar 2 channel $299 and pumps out like 500wrms bridged?

I think that looks a little under powered man.

and second, your signature? lol I know it sounds really cool, but have you ever looked up ezekiel 25:17? that's a little verbose for what was actually said :D

I didnt mention any specific jaycar model numbers so I have no idea what your talking about underpowered? be more specific please. The showing of that quote means nothing more then I like Pulp Fiction. I have no interest in the bible or the texts amongst its pages. Pulp Fiction nothing more.

Hello,
The Jaycar amps can push out more power.
From the 2005 Jaycar catalogue:

The AA-0420:

2 x 80 WRMS @ 4 ohms and 2 x 100 WRMS @ 2 ohms for $169.95.
The jaycar amp also has high- and low-pass filters.

Also, I think raabz is right. If the subwoofer is rated in RMS as well, then I don't think you'll get near 400 W out of that 65 WRMS amp, it should get 150 - 200 WRMS bridged maybe. So I think you'll be underpowering your sub.

There's also a beefier Jaycar amp that gives 2 x 150 WRMS or 1 x 500 WRMS bridged, which would be better for a 400 W sub. I'd have a look there before committing to anything. They've also got some nice subs there for the price.

To me it looks like he doesn't know what he's talking about and is just trying to sell you something from his store.

I fine that hard to believe. Jaycar monoblock can be had brand new for $350 and it pump out over 820rms @ 1ohm.

I think he's dreamin if the 2 x 65rms amp bridged down to more than 820rms.

It may be a better built amp but i dont think it will be as powerfull.

Just out of couriosity does Gary's sell Jaycar range?

It's not oftent hat a store is happy to reccomenend a brand they dont sell over one they do..

He didn't sell jaycar and thats why I assume he said what he did. My friend who was actually there to buy something absorbed all this information though and its been very hard to convince him that the dude is getting paid to sell what he stocks. I guess the salesman did a good job of selling what he had.

fusion amp's are very well built but their still only approx max ot 150rms bridged compaird to 800 odd from the jacar amp, but at the same it i had 2 few15's running from two of those fusion amps and they went hard, but they where underpowered badly, so i don't dout that, that set up would kick but it'll be under powered, and gary's car radio do only ever push their own items as any store dose.
Do your homework and get what suits your needs.

My Jaycar D-class amp runs my two 12" JL Audio 12W0 subs nicely (if you like distorted vision and difficult breathing)
