Ok my sub isnt workign and I dont knwo why. So I need you guys to give me ideas on what to check.

I have determiend the following:
a) I dont beleive it is the voice coil since the sub doesnt 'squeak' when I push on it.
b) I dont think tis the amp because it has the normal light on, not the prrotection light on. Could be the amp not sure.
c) It isnt connections at the amp. THey are all secure.
d) I dont think its the RCA connection at the back of the headunit, the are in tight, will double check though.


Could it be that the headunit is not recognising the sub? It doesnt sound likely since its a Sony Xplod Motion Blade with sub output I beleive.

My RCA cables run from my headunit along the passenger side of the centre cosile, ove rhte hump, under the back seat to the amp.

My power cable does the opposite coming through the firewall above the pedals (just had a thought, if the amp doesnt run off the red power cable maybe the cable is being squashed cuz of where I have placed it? Might check it out). Again along the driver side of the centre console, along the hump and under the back seat.

Could it be the remote, I need to check that out?

Culd it be the wires (ie RCA/Power) are being squashed due to placement, it is from a DNA wiring kit and is fairly heavy duty.

I am out of ideas, so I neeed your help.

Oh by the way its a for a 1994 EF Futura.

General rule when troubleshooting electrics, work your way backwards.

Got a spare speaker lying around? If so, disconnect sub and hook wires to spare speaker. Got sound?? Yes = Dead Sub, No = Prob is further back.

Keep working back this way till you find the dead spot. Could be anything, SUB, AMP, WIRING, HU, RCAs.

Could be a dry joint inside the amp - has happened to some of my amps - even though the terminals are all tight, the solder has broken off inside the amp. Even if you have blown the sub it will still vibrate, just real crappy.
Is the RCA cables pinched or broken in any sections? could be the problem.
If your head unit has a separate sub control, the sub may be turned off, hence no sound coming out of it. Most stereos have a sub on/off control seperate to the actual sub volume control.

FOund out what was wrong.

A wire near the terminals (?) on the sub had come off, so a mate and I soldred it back on last night. INstalled in today and I have bassss.....yay!

That same wire blew again alst night, the soldering didnt hold it. How can I reattach it securely?
