bump... this is an awesome thread but it would be really helpful to see the missing pics! If you do use the 12mm spacers, do you have clearance problems with the inside of the door trim?

No thats why 12mm is the way to go, any larger and you do have issues.
I offered the pics to be hosted by fordmods they said they'd get around to it.

I'm using speaker wire to power the sub instead of 12 or 10 gauge. How much improvement would I get if I switched to 12 gauge? thanks

10 and 12 gauge are spealker wire, gauge simply refers to their thickness.
Do you mean from the amp to the sub? how much power are you delivering to the sub? what length is the cable run?

Yes I mean the amp to the sub my lead would be just under a metre. Here are the specs from my amp it's a JBL amplifier. Would the higher figuare be for my sub?

Any reasonable speaker cable will be fine for an amp of that power.

Hi - Just a quick message to say I put 6x9's in standard EF front doors and surpassed the upper limit of depth. They still work, and the windows still go up and down, so all good.
Have been searching around FORDMODS for hours now looking for a stereo plug wiring map, diagram or picture. Hells bells, what has happened here? I cannot seem to find anything simple any more! |

Thankyou, great read. I did post on several other tutorial threads that do not work. Shame you obviously put considerable time and effort to create them. Hope they are fixed soon. Cheers Brad.

I'm thinking of running 2 x mono block 850rms and 1 x 4 channel amp (unsure of 4 channel details as of yet - haven't got that far) in my FG XT... As far as getting a signal to the amps, can I put rear left/rear right respectively to each mono then run the 4 channel from the front signals? Of will that not be right? Is it a matter of any signal will do? Or does it have to be of a certain power/or something else?
