Brilliant work again Andrew! You may have inspired me to make up door pods for the mid range. Originally I was planning to use the stock 6" location, and mount the tweeters on the A pillar. Depending how hard it is, I might change my mind :P

Who the hell is Andrew? lol

Good tutes by the way, few things to think about. Makes me feel like i'm at uni!!!

LOL! Dammit, knew it was A :P  Sorry mate!

Hey Aaron.
The picture you have in your above post, of the tweeter in the custom A-Pillar in an EL, would you have any idea as to where i would be able to get a pair of them from? ..Cos i too think the original dash tweeter locations are s**t.

Also, im thinking of buying a set of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's which i can get for a good price, ie. 300.. Now i know these are fairly deep, ie. 2 3/4" ..would this be a problem trying to mount them in the original door speaker locations without too much work?

Thanks in advance mate,
Ryan.

You wont be able to get them anywhere, as i made them.

You would need to make a set or i may be able to make a set for you.

In both of my cars i have a 3 way front stage and i enjoy the sound it provides. However it depends on a number of things, including your budget.

A poorly installed 3 way system will sound worse than a well installed 2 way system and costs more...

A good 2 way system $600
A good 3 way system $1,200

Install for 2 way system approx 5-10hrs... 1 or 2 speaker locations
Install for 3 way system approx 10-15hrs... 2 or 3 speaker locations

Then thereis the tunning issue. It it harder to tune a 3 way system than a 2 way.

I will do a tutorial on this shortly to assist.

For those of you who have doubts about the under seat mounting for midbasses i should point out not only have i found this to be the best method, the Head Sound Quality judge in Australia at present uses 8" midbasses mounted in exactly the same manner and has had them there for some years.

His is one of the best sounding cars i have ever heard.

They 8" are midbasses

Just like a 6" speaker only bigger, they do not have huge surrounds or big magnets like subs.

Subswoffers have different characteristics and aren't designed to play the same frequency range.

PS if you wait a couple of weeks i think i will be selling off the 7" midbass pods from lisa's car.

Just for thought... you can also mount the tweeter here (red circle in pic). When I put mounted mine here I retrimmed the triangular section in cloth so the tweeter's invisible, only diff is instead of being flat panel it will be the shape of a tweeter. That's if you want discrete installation (less likely to get broken into?)
