great work again mate.

Okay so you saying about running multiple subs. If i have four 4 ohm subs and runn them in series from one mono block, as long as the monoblock is 1 ohm stable i can run all four effectively.

cheers and great work.

All 4 in parrallel, then yes, it will provide a 1ohm load and monoblock will work to it's optimum (most monoblocks are 1ohm stable, what model is yours?)

i just asked i dont have one, but now you definately have me interest in going full on with subs. Okay so by parallel you mean all connected seperately to the positive and negative terminal on the amp. So the positive terminals of the subs all go the the positive of the amp and same for the negative termials to teh negative termianl on the amp. I am sorry for being a ballbreaker but i am very interested now and would like to the get the facts before spending more money.

Cheers mate.

Yes you only need to run one wire from the positive of the map to the positive of each speaker and one from the negative of the amp to each speakers negative

Jaycar make a new cheap monoblock that performs quite well.
820rms @ 1ohm with remote sub gain control and they only cost $320 BRAND new with 12month warranty.

Thanks i hope it helps people to understand what to look for when buying and the pro's and con's of different things. Most stores i have spoken to know bery little about the details of car audio and will not give an honest opinion because at the end of the day they only stock a certain range and would like to sell that.
I have no interest in specific brands so everyone can make there own mind up.

Not sure if anmy more tutorials are needed?

Perhaps a hands on assistance dayas suggested where everyone gets together with their car's and systems and i will bring a friend of mine down who i have training on a number of installs and hoppefully we can help get you started on installing all your stuff, custom door pods, where to mount stuff, handy tricks to use etc....

I dont wish to organise it though so someone down there will need to suggest a place, ideally someones shed with power tools etc.....

Cheers.

Yes i am doing an EA in the next few weeks for a friend and i will do a progressive build up on some door pods for that project showing fibrelglassing info.

Fibreglassing is good fun, but you end up doing a lot of sanding if your going to paint it. Carpet cover makes it a lot eaiser.

There are also a lot little tricks i have picked up as i have done more of it...

Start a new thread, take a couple of pics of your set-up or where you want to install the stuff, then let me know what gear you are hoping to fit in.

I will do one on box design but i will need to get some more photos during a build to help explain things...

Hey a little off topic, but whats your opinion on 'bass shakers' Pyro? I have some in my home theatre setup and their great. Just wondering if you think they'd be any good in the car?

By bass shakers do you mean something like Alpine's Bass Engine?
It mounts to the chasis and shakes the car?

I think they are OK for the car environment but not the best use of time effort and money.
Good quality subs and powerfull amps will shake the car around plenty and are less complicated to hook up. As the bass shakers do not make any sound you still need to have subs anyway so it's more amps and connections. Thsy also moce with a fair bit of force so you need to secure the well and they shacke the S#$T out of everything near them (not good for computers and even things like mounting bolts for seats etc....

Home audio they are great, although i still prefer a good couple of 18's under the floor....

I am looking for good quality photos of YOUR installs to include in these tutorials.

What should you do ?

- Read the tutorial
- Take photos of either your equipment or installation showing somethnig that i can include that relates to the text
- E-mail ohotos to me
- Photos should be good quality pics that are nice and cler and nice and close so the object of interest fills the frame.

i.e. for this thread pics of diufferent sizes and types of subs, differnt boxes sealed ported etc...

I wont promise i will include all photos but i will try to incorporate some into these documents.
