hey guys. I want to put a Tv screen and a computer in my car.

I thought that a coputer will be tooo big to put in and i would have to buy an inverter.
I thought i could get an old P III Laptop and take the screen off and place the rest of the laptop behind the dash or something like that.

Just wondering if anyone has done this and if so how.....

P.s. Any selling a P III laptop. LOL

Yeah dude - that'll work well if you can actually remove the screen without damaging the silly ribbon cables they use to connect them.

Check out

www.mp3car.com

I used to run a PC in the back of my car, power inverter etc etc. Was cool :)

what if you bought an in-dash LCD screen with VGA input, and touch screen?

I had a lilliput non VGA screen and it still works very well to this day. Lilliput the brand but all the cheap screens like that are made by the same people... lol, probably the same people who make the expensive stuff!!

Regular TV screen not really any use for PC - but the quality of the screen was fine. Only problems ive heard of with the touchscreen VGA ones is the touch screen overlay having problems.

yea i think you are right there, all the asian companies use the same wholesalers, i have a mate who used to manage all that stuff lol, but yeah i read that some of the screens include like panasonic chips or sharp lcds etc etc, so its not actually bad

stomper that was my friends idea.....he ended up making a box in the boot to put his computer. bought an LCD screen from JayCar and then used that. works really well and quality is good. he also has a head unit for the sound. bought an inverter and second battery for the whole set up. its in his camry =D. just be aware of the wires. they can go all over the place.

anyways u can always just get a touch screen LCD screen (like i want to) and put it in then run some wires under the dash into ur glove box. then just get the lap top and plug it in and use it as a normal screen and mouse (touch screen part). dont have to go through all that trouble in pulling the laptop apart.

will come out schmick =D

im using an Micro set up in a custom box to put my computer in.....but thats just an idea so far. no cash to throw around.

good luck with it

phong =P~

Buy a mini-itx board dude.. and a case to suit..
or if you got funds.. buy a nano itx board. Those are 12x12cm. Just add a 2.5" laptop hdd with your fav OS and a butload of vids/music and you'll be golden.

its cool. but by the time you finish installing a PC to a car. chances are its out of date by then anyways! lol. maybe go for a DVD + Screen combo for now and see how you like it? easy to install and you can get some monitors that can also be plugged into PCs.

Yeah but who cares if it's out of date if it plays all your vids and music? It still works. You're not going to be doing anything that required fully up to date hardware.

yeah im planning on connecting it to the Car cdplayer with the sub and have all my vids and mp3's i RIPPED, lol, from cds, ha.

i have to check out the mini-itx and i think i may go that way. The reason i say go and pull a laptop apart is because it will be cheaper then getting a 7 inch TFT and dvd plaer from jaycar.

I like the idea of the touch screen but as you guys said i would have to go with a 2nd hand one mainly because i dont have that much cash around but pc parts come cheap to me.

Thanks for all the imput guys.

thats true adam. i was just searching on ebay for touchscreen monitors. usualy they are 7" and prices vary from 200 - 500. depending on what quality, motorized and seller. of course this doesnt include postage.

the nano ITX might be a bit pricey but they are quier small :P. i should know im soon to be a nanotechnologist hahaha. but yeah u might wait a bit and some things might drop in price.

everything will become out of date once u buy it. its technology, its always changing and increasing in complexity.

good luck.

I have access to a bunch of I.T. wholesalers in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.. if you guys need anything PM me and I'll see what I can arrange. Some items have big markups on them.. others have very small ones.
