Hey I was just wondering what i would have to do to put 2 subs into a BF ute. I have the subs, amp and wiring kit, but I'm thinking about making my own boxes. Anyone have specs on height, width and depth for a ute box? would be very much appreciated.
If not, possibly where i could get specs for one. Also the subs aren't shallow ones so it would have to accomodate a regular size sub. I'm thinking about taking it all to Alberts (a local car audio shop) and giving them my subs in/out of a box, my amp and the wiring and getting them to do it all. I also want some 6x9's or 6" in the rear i'm not really fussed which and some 6's in the front. Also what is a good cheapish headunit, preferrably pioneer or one of the good quality brands? Please let me know your thoughts because i'm sick of standard stereo.

I think 2 x 12" subs in a Ute cab is a bit overkill , but since you already got the parts, I reckon you'd need to make a box that fills up basically the whole area at the back of the seats.
Also I don't think anyone could give you a good dimension for the ute. Firstly because we don't know the exact specifications for the subs and also don't know how much room we could play with as well as what kind of shape you would prefer. It all depends on what kind of volume is recommended for the sub, given to you by the sub manufacturer. Some more details would be great on the subs as well as maybe how much room there is to play with in the cabin. If not then going to the nearest car audio to do the job is your next best bet. Though be prepared to pay for the money if you want them to do a custom box. phong =P~

you know how much rom is in the back of the ute, you can just measure up and build a box to suit.

I'm only putting two in because I had two in my old EF and i don't want to sell the 2nd one. Plus if i want to have a crank every now and then it will do the job nicely. I just measured my ute then and if the boxes were to be single they would have to be 55w 55h and 18d, or if it was one single long box it would have to be 140w 55h and 18d.
and with regards to the shape of the box if i was going to make one it would just be square. or maybe with a slight taper downwards to give it a bit more inside area? if that was the case id be able to alter the dims a little bit. I'm not sure what all this means but here is the product specs Max Power Rating (Watts): 400 RMS Power Rating (Watts): 200 Coil Height (Hvc): 20 Compliance (Cms): 321.2 Cone Area (Sd): 53.1 D.C. Coil Resistance (Re): 3.6 Electrical Q (Qes): 0.305 Force Factor (Bl): 15.56 Free Air Resonance (Fs): 24.14 Frequency Response: 21Hz - 3kHz Impedance (Nominal): 4 Linear Excurson (Xmax): 6 Mechanical Excursion (mm): 23 Mechanical Q (Qms): 2.78 Moving Mass (Mms): 135.317 Magnet Structure (Oz): 47 Sensitivity (dB) (1W/1M): 89.6 Total Loudspeaker Q (Qts): 0.275 VAS (L): 128.6 VAS (CuFt): 4.48
