hey guys. i have a g6e an im interested in upgrading the stereo system. i dont want to spend heaps, and im not out to awaken people 3 streets away with it turned up in the morning. mostly looking to just clean up the sound a bit, give it a bit more direction, and maybe a tiny bit more oomph, whilst not going overboard, and retain the stock look. as such i guess i should just upgrade the speakers, although should i run a low level rms amp to the 4 main speakers too? wouldnt mind a sub for a bit more background bass aswell. i have a 12 inch sony 1200 watt amp in a carpeted box, a sony 2 channel 250 watt amp, and a set of mtx tdx6802 splits, and some jbl 3 way 6 x 9's sitting in the shed. are these going to be of any use? any hints or tips about speakers to use without blowing the budget? dont want to buy something only to have to upgrade it later either, rather do it right the first time.

you can do it, if you wanna retain the icc as your music source then i think you need to run high level inputs to the amp from the speaker outputs of the icc unless the icc supports rca out. otherwise you could run an aftermarket h/u and have it situated beneath the icc (well thats where ive seen some ba/bf guys do it)

i guessed thats what i would have to do on the amp, but what sort of speakers should i be chasing? are the mtx splits any good? and will the tweeter fir behind the a pillar?

I initially used an Audio Control LC6 http://www.audiocontrol.com/31215/produ ... erter.html to convert the speaker output to RCA output and it worked well.
Unfortunatly the stoch unit Ford uses has a very high noide floor so when you are listening to quiet music at higher volumes you can hear a hiss which I found very annoying. Eventually I put in an after market head unit to get quality sound.
