I'm looking for a headunit for my ute as my prestige six stacker head unit doesn't play cd's anymore so could anyone post your opinions on a headunit for under $700

I was looking at a an Alpine CDA-9851 and a JVC KD-LH915 but hey post your opinions on brands and post wat is good on the market.

Depends what you want it for really. I mean if your just going to be running the stock speakers off the headunit, then can you really justify spending $700?
But if your running 5 amps, then your probably going to be wanting one one with more pre-outs and that.

It will be running stock premo speakers and a 220 alpine amp with sub and is JVC any good, if JVC is seen as alright than i would spend less about $500

Another thing i am looking at sound quality and looks and funcinality as i will be upgrading the speakers and getting a 4 channel amp to run the speakers but thats later on maybe next year

JVC are allright for entry-lower mid level HU's, but if you've got $700 to spend, something like a Pioneer DEH-P7650MP should be within reach if you shop around

that particular alpine unit is nice.

cant really go wrong with any of the alpine range.

if ur lucky u can go and get the last yrs models for a real good price, as i get a cda-9835 for $800 as it was the last one, good as it is $1200 retail.
could of gotten a cda 9833 for $700.
this is only like 3weeks ago and some of the stores still had 4-5 hu's of the same model just sittin there.

i've seen those ebay prices just not a big fan of handin money over and waiting, prefer face to face.

I was given a price on an exdemo alpine cda-9831 with 2 year warranty for $580
is it worth it

650 is a good price for that (aside the ebay prices)

its retail is like 1200 iirc
