i like when some brands try and pull a dodgy and say 6 channel pre-outs.when i was buying mine it took me about 5 minutes to work out what it meant. then i realised it was 3 rca.

+ pioneer, JVC, Alpine are the the most recomended decks

+ sony is s**t

ive been lookin at a few ova da net and a few of em say they hav "dvd control"

does this mean i can whack a screen in and connect it to the deck. controlling it from the deck?? cos dat would be kewl

As a Strathfield employee, I'd definately recommend PANASONIC.
Go and see super cheap auto for them. :)

I bought a Panasonic CQ-C8400W for $479 with the following features:

-Front, rear and sub pre outs all at 5v
-Variable High/low pass filters on each preout
-50w x 4 Mosfet
-Aux input
-Stacker control
-Remote control
-Customisable 3" animated dot matrix display screen in blue
(can have animations (avi files) or still pictures (jpg)
-Nightvision (80% of the face of the unit (not the buttons, i mean the
actual face!) has a selectable led backlight...7colours OR
user custom OR Storm mode (fades randomly between
colours) OR it can flash to the beat of the music)
-Blue button illumination
-MOTORISED detachable face with Tilt viewing angle selection
-MP3 and WMA
-7 band fully adjustable EQ also with 7 preset music types
-etc etc.

It looks crazy (at night especially)
My high end sony/pioneer owning friends have been cursing me
ever since i bought it!! All the same features at half the price!!

LOL! strathfield employee don't mean s**t.
last time I went there, the guys wouldn't sell me a fuse or a circuit breaker to run on the active wire... they told me I wouldn't need it...what f**k.

The same fellas tried to convince me 5 minutes later that my amp didn't exist until i forced one of them to come out to my car and have a look at it. (600W.4ch RMS Kicker amp)

the strathfield employees there at least should be shot.....twice.

jaycar.......i'll give you that. They've been pretty helpful to me. One thing that p****d me off more than retailers that don't have a clue about what they're selling are the ones that pretend they do and are arrogant about it (i love proving them wrong!)

In my line of work (timber and building supplies) if I don't know the answer, I say "I don't know".
Is it that hard on these people's egos to understand that they won't know everything?
People just want good advice or none.

Anyway.......b**ch session over.

Yeah, awesome deck.. I bought one about 3 months ago for $585 off ebay including postage, brand new boxed, and its the ozi version, not the US 'premier' version. Full warranty too.
