Yeah, true. I've run both units in my wagon - and they certainly beat the stock mid series ford units (which are supposed to be 60w - 4 x 15w).
In fact, the ford unit was terrible, could never fade the rears loud enough to hear them.

I'm running Pioneer 9850BT, used to have 8650MP.
Both awesome headunits, powerful, fairly easy to use (8650 was admittedly a bit better), and they look good in the car too. Rate the 8650 8/10 and the 9850 the same. Prefer the 8650 in some ways, but you can't have everything

I bought a Pioneer 7550 a couple of years back as it had 3 rca outputs...pioneers are great for specs and ease of use. My only gripe is it is s**t at reading dirty/scratched cd's. Put a MP3 disc in with maybe two scratches and its horrible, otherwise good value. Would recommend Alpine 9835 or the high end Eclipse models. That way you get all the features and you can upgrade as you go.

well the head unit is on hold for the moment, it ended up being a stuffed earth wire and the half stuffed battery wouldnt have helped either, so a new battery is on its way soon, gonna get the car all working right and lower it before i get the new head unit

I own a Pioneer DEH-1450B, off the top of my head. It's ancient, and it's the best headunit I have ever seen. Brilliant quality.
It has never skipped due to vibration. Unbelievable headunit.

I have just put in a jvc AVX2. As soon as i turned it on i noticed a huge inprovement in sound. Old headunit was a kenwood(not sure what model). But yeah...its a great headunit and good for my ute as there isnt many places to put a screen for dvds

i have found the same thing with my pioneer HU. DEH-3somethingMP. Have found some mates with newer ones havent had the same issues though... maybe it was a bad design for a few years or something? |

Running a no name in-dash DVD player I picked up on eBay for $99.
Similar facia to JVC (3.5" screen, 2 big round control buttons. Screen is on opposite side to the JVC though). Grabbed it for cheap entertainment for the kids when getting the car ready for a trip to QLD, intended to upgrade but have had no problems with it. Sound quality is comparable to the Pioneer DEH-P4350 it replaced.

I normally steer clear of them too, but for a quick, cheap product it's more than served its purpose. Better than listening to "Are we there yet?" from here to Noosa
