I'm running infinity splits in the front of my XR6 in the stock speaker holes, and i'm really happy with the sound clarity and volume they produce. Bass could be a little lacking but overall, i'm happy with the sound at the price. $250 for the pair of 6" splits :)

Just got Alpine Type S 6.5" splits for my gf's 300zx, haven't put them in yet, but when we heard them on the board they put out an impressive sound also for $250. The bass that came from these speakers was quite suprising!

so those splits went straight into the factory holes without an issue ?
ive got a friend who has some of those he bought like a year ago and has never used and wants to sell em ...

maybe its time to upgrade those poor sonys of mine.

Yeah, they went straight in, i did it myself.

Get them off your friend!

The tweeters I put in too but I just drilled into that cover above the door and rand the cable through that and then glued it on. I reckon it looks good.

mmm i reckon if you put the tweeters in the factory holes it tends to make the system very tweeter heavy.
the tweeters start to overbear the woofers.

Mmm true but ive got the dash mat!! I cant even hear the stock tweeters ne way LOL. Im looking for midbass rather than treble as that is what my system seriously lacks atm.

I have sub bass, and treble a-pleanty, but mid-bass lacks quite a bit

The sub pretty much over powers the rears, so if i can get a decent pair of splits with pleanty of mid-bass then i have done it right. :P

Off-topic for a second, how much did the GreenStuff pads cost?

I highly reccomend Car Toys, i've spent a couple grand in there, excellent guys, and they do excellent installation jobs. Like you've said before, their range of DLS is pretty good too, and some of their splits are fairly cheap.

Yeah they are supposed to be rigging me back ne minute now..... But yeah they are pretty good there, been there a couple of times, only real problem is thou is that they are pretty out of the way from where i am.

I mean its about 70-80km drive give or take.. pretty annoying really.

The rears in big cars are only meant to be a filler. Get awesome speakers/splits in the front and normal series in the back. When do you sit the back of your car anyway? Even when you are there, you're either p****d or busy doing something(one) else.

They're about $100.

The tweeters in the stock positions bring the stage right up and also reflect against the windscreen which sounds sorta harsh to me. Ideally you want the tweeters as close to the woofers as possible.

exactly, having them too far apart means you hear the sound coming from different directions
sounds much better if both high and mid/low appears to be coming from the same sound source.

Oh man but that requires more effort and modifications.... I will see what happens, depending on how much its goning to cost for the splits, cause i certainly wont be doing the work.

off topic but

Yeah i just got the price on my EBC's and yes they are fricken expensive ($180) and i couldnt get them ne cheaper either.

I was going to do a full brake upgrade but atm im just going to get some decent brake pads for now until i can come up with more $$$ to get the greenstuffs (was a bit more than i thought they would be lol)

Talk to Nick about the deals he can get with Hightek brakes, they can mail the pads to you and it will all cost max about $120.

It is understandable that you can not have speakers in the perfect positions without costing a lot of $$$ however just do the best you can with what you have. Waggin and someone else here has the tweeters to the little door pillar there and that would be ok on a budget.
