HI all, just wondering what are the best set of 6' splits in your opinion. Im looking to upgrade my factory splits and im currently looking at a few models now, but i just want some input on what other people have bought/heard.

Im thinking of either DLS or Pioneer or Alpine, i have already heard a few sets and basically the cheaper ones were a no go. DLS are fricken expesive but their stuff sounded the best much the same with the alpine stuff as well.

Ne way looking forward to some replys :P

Ive got JVC, they are in one piece "OK"... my friend in his EL has Alpines with the seperate tweeters, very nice sounding... Ive heard very good things about focals aswell... oh and kenwoods.

Xplods are ok, but not that good...I wouldn't recommend them.. oh and focals are VERY expensive, like ~$800 for splits...lol

Cheers

Okay cool thanks for the relpys, yeah i have already heard the Alpine splits (latest model type X's) geezz these are fricken expensive like +$700!! DLS are even worse $899 for the pair i was looking at

But yeah i havent had time lately but i really need to go to the city and test some more out me thinks. I will prolly end up getting the Pioneer ones or whatever is cheaper than my current choices LOL!

When you test them, make sure its just them playing, they sales people obviously wanna sell, and Ive seen heaps of them turn on the subs with them, or something else, like tweeters, or whatever.. so just ask for them to be seperately playing... it still won't sound like what it will in your car.. but it will give you a comparison point of view, compared to the other.

Good luck

It really depends on your max budget but you can't decide on that until you decide if you can tell the difference between cheaper and more expensive models. Eventually I'll be getting either Focal Utopia's, Boston Pros or Diamond Audio HEXs that are all around the $1000 mark. However that won't be for a while as I have other priorites atm...

Not too sure about the budget atm but it will greatly depend on what i think sounds better for the right price sort of thing... But i want to upgrade my amp as well so i wont be spending too much.

Yeah JB HIFI in Adelaide stocks JL Audio that was another option too. So p****d thou if i were too chose ne brands down here the following would be the options i have.

Blaupunkt (spelling), Kicker, DNA, Philips, VDO, kenwood, clarion. Not much of a choice but there are a couple of good quality brands there. ne way a trip to the city will decide what i purchase LOL

simply dont waiste your time with pioneer and sony, jl and cadence are sweet and built well. some companies make good HU some make good drivers. pioneer make nice HU but sony.... well its all looks. The guy at the shop will tell you what u wanna hear but in the end its your dollar. why buy the cheaper option now when you can get something decent and have for years in all the cars your going to own down the track. Save ur cookies and do it properly.

currently sitting on the fridge in my room waiting to go in are a pair of TS-C1625 pioneers - 220w 2-ways w/ tweeters. 2mths old - got 'em off my mate for $280. matched with the e-series 6" pioneers in the parcel shelf for $150 (RRP: $300+) and i have a pretty good setup... these things sounds pretty sweet - not too sure what they retail for i'm afraid - hehe its good having a mate whos dad is state pioneer manager! :D

Lucky U uglybob for getting a old of them :P Ne way as i said it wont come down to money really i mean i will most likely go with what sounds better (and get a better price) while im at it.

I have got quite a few deals b4 when looking at buying car audio so im sure i can do it again. :D

I managed to get $100 off the price of my HU and got it installed for free as well. Got a set of alpine speakers for $100 they were the last set in the store so they gave me about $40 off, wow big saving LOL. Same with my sub and box deal, sub was worth $220 and the box was worth $130 got that for $300 and then they gave me the wiring amp kit for free which was a $85 value!!

But yeah i will see what i can do.
