Got an EF Fairmont Ghia and im wiring in a few aftermarket gauges n subs n s**t. and im buggered if i can find a place to go through the firewall easily. Anyone got any suggestions? I've tried around where the main engine loom goes through but i cant get my hands under the dash to find it cause the air box is in the way and i cant see any other easy access holes.

Another location is drivers side behind the dash where the loom goes through a gromet. Get a steel coat hanger or some thick wire, push it through the gromet and then sticky tape the wire/cable you want to feed and pull it through. Got my 0 gauge through it.

Yeah i was looking at the clutch cable hole thinking god damn i wish i could stick s**t in there lol. But its getting the manual conversion in the next week or so. I was looking all over the place for a grommet on the drivers side but i cuoldnt see anything. ill go have a closer look now seeing as its light out. might have more luck this time.

Follow the bonnet release cable. It should lead you to the location. If not look through the engine bay, it's on the drivers side of the brake booster but hidden underneath the body frame. You should be able to see the bonnet release cable go through a hole near the bonnet struts. If you have cruise control, it's behind the cruise control module. If not follow the accelerator cable and it should lead to the same area. It's just a pain to get to because it is hidden in the engine bay side of things.

If you do buy a drill, get some rubber grommets and some silastic as well, last thing you want is 12v and bulk amps going to earth when the wires rub through.

Or if you want it all nicely hidden, if you take of the drivers wheel arch splash guard, you will see the grommet in the base of the A pillar where one of the engine bay looms runs through, and comes out near the battery.
You can run all your cables up under the drivers guard to the engine bay, and they will be nicely tucked away. |

I decided to follow the bonnet release cable instead, and cut through the large grommet where an existing loom runs through just to the lower left of the brake booster. The above mentioned route which arm79 suggested works much much easier though IMO. |

On mine there's a wiring hole just above and to the right fom the clutch cable hole looking from the engine side. It had a few wires through it already and a grommet.

arm 79 any idea if that route is the same on all falcons? will be installing 2 amps and subs in my fg shortly, hoping to have it all planned prior to the execution though

keep feeding the wire through. you will eventually it see it coiled up on your floor. what i normally do is poke a hole through the rubber of the main wiring harness. if all this fails pull the rubber out completely poke your finger through to check for clearence and drill a new hole.

I found the hole on the drivers side but its a pain having to move the cruise control module to get to it. i ran my oil temp gauge through there but i think ill do my amp and everything else i do under the guard. Sounds like more work but easier, less hand mashing work. |
