Ground both amps to the same point , under one of the bolts that holds the rear seat backrest in should be fine. Probably one in the middle would be best.

whs ^^ and the shorter the leads the better it will be
give teh paint around the bolt a good clean with sandpaer to expose the bare metal for better conductivity

i was once told by a Sound Off SPL competetor (who won like 9 or 10 various trophies and i think is sponsered by JBL) that you have your earth no more then f**k i forget OH 34 cms from ya amp i don't know if that is a crock of s**t but i wouldn't argue with him lol

thanks guys..
one last question, do you guys just strip the wire back, and let the washer&bolt tighten/fasten it to the body..or do you use a connector? |

I've got the one under my drivers seat earthed to one of the bolts that holds the seat rails down

ok..its just its a little hard because im using 1x 8gauge AND 1 x 4gauge wire..and when i put two big connectors, there wasnt much bolt left to hold the seat..
so im thinking of drilling next to it, and adding a bolt just for the grounding |

Absolute rubbish...... Especially when the positives are up to 5m long....

There's two schools of though.
1. shortest earth cable as possible. in my EL I had teh amps mounted on teh back of the seats, and earthed to one of the bolts that held the seat hinges on. Again clean it up for good conductivity. 2. Earth all the way back to the battery. Cars these days have more and more spot welds, less seam welds, so the quality of the body as an earth is not as good for a high power stereo. I'm seriously considering doing this in my GT-P as I've tried all the other earth tricks, and still get a faint hiss that wasn't there with the same gear in my EL.

It won't matter if the ground cable is 500m long if it is the appropriate sized cable so it is pretty irrelevant...
Providing it is done properly....

That's right. I'm using 4GA power cable, but have upspecced the earths to 2GA.
