Hi all,
I have just pout an LPG tank into my car, and need some ideas where to put my monoblock. This monoblock is 620x270 millimetres in size Where I used to have it, on the back of the back seat, is out of the question. This monoblock no longer fits there, but my small 2 channel amp fits there. The amp is too big to fit under the passenger seat, and I have the LPG controller under the driver seat. The 2 options that I can think of are on the passenger side of the boot, or under the bootlid. My questions are.... Is there anywhere else that I could fit this amp? and How much weight can the bootlid take? I would prefer to have it on the boot lid Any input would be appreciated Cheers Chris

Ah the good ol' gas tank and amp problem!
Firstly i dont think it cant be mounted on the passenger (left) side of the boot under the boot liner as the petrol filler pipe and the petrol lid release is there. Secondly i would strongly advise not putting it inside the boot lid for 3 reasons, vibrations from sub, the heat generated by the sun onto the boot lid will over heat the amp and go into thermal overload and lastly when closing the boot it will overtime damage the amps components and PCB along with the boot ribbing itself. I would use the same location as where the factory amp is mounted in the EF&EL fairmont ghias, behind the boot liner on the drivers side. The other option is on the floor inside a custom false floor which has a protective grill so the amp cannot be damaged with luggage but also be vented. |

^^^ can you measure the dimensions of your amp. I think that mine is too big to go there

It could have fitted if a panel was fitted say 650mm deep x 300mm high on the drivers side of the boot spaced out approximately 100mm from the bottom and 50mm from the top but the boot hinge would foul on the amp when closing. The only other option you have is to make a false floor and mount the amp inside that on the boot floor. There has been some threads on the last option, im sure a search will help you.

I justed changed my mates amp today, we mounted it on the back of the passenger seat, people cant see it and it gives you more space in the boot

These were taken from the manual. Don't know how to convert it to metric tho.

I've had this problem too, maybe consider making up a flat fake wall for one side of the boot out of MDF? Should give you plenty of room to mount even a big amp.

Thats a great place to put the amp if its an AU onwards but on the E series the boot hinge is internal and would fowl on the amp if placed there. It may be a matter of making a panel to fit the amp on and space it off the drivers or passenger side to clear the boot hinge either by boxing it or usint all thread then covering with carpet to neaten it up. Or just buy a smaller size amp, The JL Audio A1400 monoblock i just bought is 500w RMS @ 2ohm and is 300mm x 235mm x 63.5mm and would fit easily inside the drivers side boot panel.

What is people opinions on fitting amps under seats? Specifically the passenger seat?

Dimensions (L x W x H): 15-1/8" x 12-5/16" x 2-3/8" That works out to be approx 378 x 308 mm That means that Mine is 24.2 cm longer than yours. I will end up doing a false floor setup 
I didnt want to put so much effort into this.

originally i did mine the same as del_futura then went to the back of the seat - which obviously u cant now....
but yeah i jus made up a mdf panel carpeted it look awesome

Would have done it in a heartbeat if I could get the bloody thing to fit under there
